“Venice”
Venice Canoe & Dragon Boat is the currently the leader in the diffusion and promotion of dragon boating in Venice and in Italy.
Young and dynamic, ‘Venice’ (as it is affectionately known) was established on the 25th of February 2003, formed by a group of friends who were eager to develop the many opportunities provided by this unusual boat with the head and tail in the form of a dragon. Students, managers, athletes, tourists and whoever else has had the opportunity to try this fascinating boat has remained enthusiastic by the strength with which this sport brings people together.
- “All together in the same boat! All together to the beat of the drum!” – with these slogans, men and women of all ages and walks of life have experienced the emotions of paddling with their friends and colleagues with a common goal – it could be as simple as a leisurely excursion, or as tough as a victory at a World Championships!
Our Locations
Venice Canoe & Dragon Boat a.s.d. has two locations in Venice - the Centro Sportivo Costantino Reyer, Cannaregio 3163 – a lively hub of Venetian sporting life, where our main office and secretary is located. Our club house and boat storage area is located separately at the C.N Sacca S. Biagio, only a short distance from the large hotel and residential complex of the Molino Stucky building.
Venice also has a location in Padova, thanks to the close collaboration with the sporting association, Padova Canoa a.s.d, which can be found at the Sports and Swimming Complex PADOVA NUOTO, Via Decorati al Valor Civile 2, on the Bassanello River.
General Info
Venice operates mainly in and around Venice and is involved in many social activities, in competition and in touristic excursions. The main objective of the club is to promote water sports, with a focus on dragon boating and canoeing/kayaking.
The club has experienced instructors and offers its boats for courses, excursions and team building activities in the Venetian lagoon and anywhere in Italy where flat water basins are available (beaches, lakes, rivers, lagoons etc.)
The club’s locations are the meeting point for those who decide to try a water sport and for those who simply want to enjoy the beauty of their surrounds; throughout the year, Venice offers activities and programs aimed at improving and maintaining good fitness levels.
Venice Canoe & Dragon Boat organises sporting events on both a local and national level in which sees the participation of many students and athletes from the Veneto Region and from all of Italy.
“Venice” - Our Team
Currently, Venice is the strongest dragon boat team in Italy, having won for two years consecutively the 2005 and 2006 Italian National Dragon Boat Championships.
Many of the athletes that make up this fantastic team have also been protagonists in victories (again in 2005 and 2006) in the World University Students Dragon Boat Championships held in China, a unique achievement as no single team had so far won the same titles for two consecutive years.
