Excursions in Venice

What better way to experience Venice’s wonders than by water! And what more original way than to see Venice by Dragon Boat!
For school groups and non-profit associations, we offer outings and excursions by ‘dragon boat’ – a type of ‘chinese canoe’ – so named not just because of its oriental origins, but also because of the dragon’s head and tail that is found on the prow and stern of the boat. This boat holds up to 20 people, and because of its dimensions (it is as long as a gondola!), guarantees stability.
There is the choice of either visiting the historical city centre, paddling along the Grand Canal and viewing its bridges and palaces; with the possibility of side-trips into the smaller canals and discovering a hidden Venice - one full of curiosities and extraordinary details.
Alternatively, you can choose an excursion into the beautiful Venetian lagoon – an ecosystem that is unique and characterised by the flowing tides and many islands.
When paddling in a dragon boat, everybody shares the experience of paddling together, of moving the boat using their very own strength – the necessity of cooperation and collaboration allows the group to develop a strong team spirit.

Booking the Activity
School groups and non-profit associations should contact the Secretary and organise the activity during school hours, in the afternoon and/or during week-ends.
At the time of the booking, the name and contact details of the group leader/teacher are required.
Bookings and requests should be made at least 2 months in advance. Late bookings will also be accepted, however will be subject to availability.

The excursion generally lasts 2 hours.
The instructors that accompany the group are recognised by Italian federal bodies (FIDB) and/or promotional sporting bodies.
The 2 main points of embarkation are our club bases – giudecca for a visit into the lagoon, or Sant Alvise for trips into Venice.
All participants MUST wear a life-jacket.
Before leaving the dock, a briefing is provided explaining the basics of paddling, the behaviour required while onboard, and safety procedures.
