AURONZO DI CADORE (BL) - ITALY, 01/07- 04/07/2021

ROAD CONDITIONS IN VENETO (distance from Bologna to Auronzo)

For those arriving from Bologna on the A13 BOLOGNA / PADOVA motorway, we point out that daily queues of a few kilometers are created in the section between Occhiobello and Rovigo, with increases / delays of about 40 minutes on the normal route.

For those arriving from Belluno with the SS51 Alemagna, we point out that due to roadworks there are deviations and queues in the Longarone area and deviations and queues in the Ospitale area, with increases/delays of about 20 minutes on the normal route. In particular, on the deviation of this last stretch (Ospitale), it is recommended to be careful during the tight curves with the C4 and K4 canoe trailers.

Always on a section of the Alemagna, at Domegge, there is a mobile traffic light reducing traffic to one lane due to roadworks.

In the town of Auronzo di Cadore asphalting works are underway on the main road that crosses the town but on 30/06 the affected section should be the one beyond the intersection of Piazza Vigo with Via Zardus (access to the competition area is along Via Zardus).

If you are travelling long distances, we suggest you make stops just before or after these areas.

The competition area of Lake Santa Caterina is formed by the dam on the Ansiei river. The riverbed between the bridges of Villapiccola (1000 meters start area) and Transacqua (finish area) is subject to gravel and debris removal works every year. Due to the commitment to the Covid 19 emergency, the Subjects who already have resources destined for these excavations (the Civil Protection in particular), were unable to proceed with the planned works last year and this year. It is recommended to pay attention to small gravel islets (depth approx. 50 cm) after the finish area and close to the bridge (the lanes located closer to the beach area).

  • Access to the competition field must preferably be done on foot, parking unauthorised vehicles outside the areas dedicated to the event.
  • On the days of 30/06 and 01/07 it will be possible to arrive with vehicles and trailers to deposit the canoes and kayaks in the allocated boat stands, subject to availability.
  • After depositing the boats on the stands, the trailers must be parked in the appropriate areas (upstream of the river) and can be recovered at the end of the races, or shortly before.
  • On 02/07, 03/07 and 04/07 (up until 13:00 approx.) up to a maximum of 2 vehicles (cars/minibuses) for groups with more than 8 athletes registered for the event can access the competition area. For all the others, only 1 vehicle allowed. Authorised vehicles will be given a PASS (on which the license plate will be shown) to be displayed and made visible before entering the competition area, from 07:00 to 19:00.
  • For vehicles not equipped with a PASS, after the announcement of the speaker, the intervention of the tow truck will be required with call and removal costs charged to the owner of the vehicle.
  • Vehicles with the “disabled on board” badge, or with the authorisation of the OC (disabled athlete participating in the event), will be able to access and park in the competition area without needing a PASS.

The race secretariat is located at the finish line, on the Stella Alpina side, in the same structure as the Jury and the photo-finish and Timekeeper’s service.

From 15:00 to17:00 on Thursday 01/07 the Clubs/teams will be able to verify their registrations, bringing with them the receipt of the payment of the participation fees and whatever else may be useful for the verifications.

It should be remembered that for administrative and general matters, the Organising Committee is competent, through its representatives: for technical and regulatory matters, the Jury is competent.

The fee to be able to present a technical protest during the course of the competitions, as per ICF regulations, is Euro 75.00.

As per Covid regulations, any updates will be sent electronically (whatsapp group of Team Leaders).

All races will be streamed live on the “AuronzoCanoe” YouTube channel.

The boat control scale will be positioned on 30/06 and 01/07 near the boarding pontoons, close to the canoe stands, so that the athletes can easily access the scale and check the boat weight.

On 02/07, 03/07 and 04/07, the boat weight scale will be positioned in the vicinity of the Jury and Race Secretariat structure. It will be possible to check boat weights from 07:00 to 07:45 in the morning and at the end of the day of competition, until 19:30.

The scale will be reserved for routine checks at the end of each race. It will not be possible to check the weight of the boats while the races are in progress.

As per the current COVID-19 Protocol, the medal ceremonies will be conducted at the end of each final. The athletes must take the medals directly from the tray. The winning crews must present themselves with the same uniform/race shirt.

AURONZO 2021 - The classic canoe event returns to Lake Santa Caterina

From 2nd to 4th July the 40th edition of the International Sprint Canoe Race
 in Auronzo di Cadore (BL

This classic canoe event returns to Lake Santa Caterina. 600 athletes from 9 Nations, prelude to the U23 and Junior Canoe Sprint World Championships
assigned to Auronzo in 2023.

From Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th July, Lake Santa Caterina in Auronzo di Cadore (BL) will host the 40th edition of the International Sprint Canoe Race for the U16, Junior, Senior, Master and Paracanoe categories.

The international competition every year hosts hundreds of athletes from all over the world and from Italian canoe clubs. To celebrate this important anniversary, from this year the race will also host foreign clubs who want to participate in the event with their athletes (until 2019, foreign crews could only compete as national representatives).

The competition program includes heats, semi-finals and finals over the distance of 1,000 mt. (Friday), 500 mt. (Saturday) and 200 mt. (Sunday).

Registrations officially closed on Thursday 24 June, but this edition, even taking into account the restrictions of the federal Covid Protocol to be respected, is on a par of the 2017 and 2019 editions, thanks to over 20 foreign representatives from Germany (national team and 9 clubs), Switzerland (national team and 2 clubs), Austria (national team), Slovenia (national team and 3 clubs), Belgium (national team), Tunisia (national team), Czech Republic (1 club) and Poland (1 club) for a total of approximately 150 foreign athletes. The Italian national team will also be present together with over 50 Italian clubs.

The Organising Committee has as its reference the Venice Canoe & Dragon Boat sports association, a club founded in Venice in 2003, and is in close collaboration with the Municipality of Auronzo di Cadore.

Particular attention was paid by the organisation to welcoming foreign clubs / teams, both in terms of accommodation and in terms of technical sports assistance. And specific attention has also been given to the health aspect. CONI Veneto and the Veneto Region have guaranteed the availability of about 800 Covid-19 swabs.

The preparation work of the event area will begin this week, with the preparation and assembly of the competition field.

The arrival of the first clubs/teams is expected from Wednesday 30 June.
